What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I provide estimates by the job as well as by the hour depending on the customer’s needs.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will meet with the customer at the location of the landscaping need. We will go through what the customer wants to accomplish. I will provide feedback on ways to accomplish their needs. Often I will provide bid in staging so that customer knows pricing from the beginning and they can add or delete options based on their budget. I believe in honesty and providing a fair price.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have enjoyed landscaping for the last 15 years on a part time basis. I have attended landscape design classes. I attend regular events to stay aware of new products that will make projects more efficient and economical.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was a young teenager working for a landscape company in Oklahoma to begin with. I worked with pro landscapers and then moved to Nebraska in 2005. Since relocating to Nebraska I have attended several classes and workshops on various fields of landscaping. I took my love of landscaping from a hobby to a business when Eggers Landscaping LLC was formed in 2015.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with home owners, contractors and business owners. I have also worked on the landscapes of group and community homes.
Describe a recent project you are fond of.
How long did it take? A recent customer wanted a new look in their back yard. They were also having problems with water standing and drainage. We were able to put in a drainage system and retaining walls/pavers to solve the water problem. I added sod and this finished the unique, relaxing atmosphere where the customer enjoyed spending time. This was a large project that took about 6 weeks to complete.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
A reputable landscaper will be able to provide a customer with references for various kinds of work. Ask for the names and phone numbers so that you can verify the type of work and skill of the person you are hiring. It is also important to verify that the landscape contractor has insurance or is bonded for unexpected dilemmas.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Customers should have an idea of what they are want for a finished project and what type of budget they are comfortable with. Adjustments can be made as needed. A time line of when the project can reasonably be completed is important as well.
